EDNA RUTH HORN-HODGE

On August 25th, 2002, Sister Edna Ruth Horn-Hodge went to be with the Lord. Sister Edna Ruth has been a faithful member of Spring Grove [Texas] Primitive Baptist Church since 1997. For the last few years she has been sick with cancer. She had so much faith and determination. Even when the doctors told her she had two months to live, she would not give in to this terrible disease. She was a very strong lady with a positive attitude and she never gave up.

She told us she asked God to give her a little bit more time with her family and to let her live just a little bit longer. God is so good. He answered all of our prayers and we were blessed to have over two more years with her. Her doctors were amazed. They did not understand, but she did. She always gave God the praise for letting her have that extra time. She attended church every Sunday as long as she was physically able. She loved to go to church and always had a smile on her face.

She is survived by her husband, Ray, their daughter, Sharon; her two grandchildren, Tamara and Lonnie and their families. All the members of Spring Grove Primitive Baptist Church loved her very much and we all miss her a lot. However, we realize that our loss is her gain. We are so thankful that she isn't sick anymore, and that she is now at peace and resting at the feet of Jesus. It is our prayer that God will give her family and loved ones the comfort and strength they need to get through this difficult time.

This Resolution of Respect was submitted to Spring Grove Primitive Baptist church and entered in to the church records, while seated in conference on 10/10/2002. Copies will be m ailed to the family and the church paper - The Banner of Love.

BROTHER FAIN BEEMAN

On March 29, 2002, Brownwood, Texas Primitive Baptist Church marked the passing of our dear bother and deacon, Fain Beeman. From a spiritual standpoint it was indeed a Good Friday, for this dear brother is enjoying peace with his eternal Savior.

Brother Fain was born in rural Brown County, TX to Ray V. and Gertrude Wagner Beeman, on January 9, 1914, making his journey on this earth 88 years, two months and 20 days. He had been in ill health for sometime, but more gravely in recent months. He passed away at a Midland hospital. He was laid to rest in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery, with his wife of 55 years, where they will await the resurrection.

Brother Fain joined the Brownwood Primitive Baptist Church in October 1950 and was baptized by Elder Jasper Chambers. In August of the following year he was ordained to the office of deacon by the Brownwood Church. He came to Brownwood to church when he could, where he enjoyed the preaching and singing songs of Zion. He often said he couldn't carry a tune in a bag, but I feel like he is singing in perfect harmony now with the saints and sweet Jesus in heaven and immortal glory.

He married Mabel Harris on February 1, 1937 in Brown County. She preceded him in death in 1992. She bore him four daughters; Patsy, Peggy, Sherry and Sandra. People used to tease daddy about living in a house with five women. After mother passed away, he would tell people that he used to boss four, but now he is bossed by four. He never lost his sense of humor, even when he was so sick he would still tease and joke with his nurses. He always had a smile, joke or story of some kind for everyone.

He was an active member of the Midland Senior Center where he had numerous good friends, where he played pool, cards, and dominoes as long as he could see. He will be truly missed there. Daddy enjoyed life, enjoyed going to hockey, basketball games and going out to eat.

He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-laws; Patsy and Gerald Johnson of Brownwood, Peggy and Lester Anderson of Midland, Sherry and Bob Shelton of Arlington, Sandra and Robert Walker of Midland; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

We will miss his presence here, but his pain is over and he is resting in sweet peace awaiting the resurrection when we will be rejoined forever.

Written with love and respect by his daughter, Patsy Johnson.
