Brother Virtle Faries Sister Emma Rosene Sister Dora Doyle
Sister Manerva Amy Andrews Sister Alpha Littlefield
Sister Mozie Katheryn Albright Brother John Lea
There are no words to describe our deceased Deacon/Brother Virtle L. Faries than Psalms 122:1 which states: "I was glad when they said unto me let us go into the house of the Lord." Brother Virt faithfully attended the worship service, even after his health failed to the extent that he was in constant and extreme pain, so great was his desire to be present. It is an example we all would do well to emulate.
Virtle L. Faries was born Feb. 5, 1921 in Wappapello, MO, and following a lengthy illness was called from the walks of life on Nov. 25, 2000, Big Spring, Tx, making his stay on earth 79 years, nine months and 20 days.
Brother Virt served in the U. S. Army during World War II. He married Faye Hardy Oct. 1941 at Perryton, TX. Brother Virt joined the Perryton Primitive Baptist Church in Oct. 1942 and was baptized by Elder J. B. Hardy. After a move to Colorado City, TX, he and Sister Faye moved their membership to Bethel Primitive Baptista Church, where he was ordained a deacon in 1987. Brother and Sister Faries moved their membership to the Philadelphia Primitive Baptist Church in Dec. 1992, where he served as a deacon for the remainder of his life.
Brother Virt was a wheat farmer and a carpenter for many years in the Perryton area. He later assisted in building new facilities at both Abilene and Big Spring.
Funeral services were held at Philadelphia Primitive Baptist Church with his son, Elder Gail Faries, and a former pastor, Elder Jeff Harris, Tifton, Ga. officiating. Elder Howard Jernigan, Brady, TX. also a former pastor, spoke at the graveside in Trinity Memorial Park.
Brother Virt leaves to mourn his passing, his loving wife, Faye Faries, Big Spring, TX one son, Elder Gail Faries and his wife, Val, Lubbock, TX; one daughter, Jan Hall and her husband, Steve, Aurora, CO.; four grandsons, Shawn, Cory, and Wesley Hall, Aurora, CO, and Justin Faries, Lubbock, TX, one granddaughter, Shanna Faries, Lubbock, TX; two brothers, John Royal Faries, Farmington, MO and Alvin Faries, Puxico, MO; one sister, Wanda Hardy, Jackson, MO; a host of other relatives numerous friends, and his church family.
We will fondly remember Brother Virt as one who loved his family and the church, and he took great pleasure in the serving of both. Brother Virt and Sister Faye traveled many miles to attend church meetings in numerous places across the nation. It was a great sorrow to Brother Virt when his health would no longer allow them to continue their visitations with the Lord's people in other areas.
Brother Virt will be missed very much in church and home, but we are thankful to know that his days of suffering are over, and he is now in that heavenly home in the presence of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
We, of the Philadelphia Primitive Baptist Church, extend our heartfelt sympathy to Sister Faye, her children, grandchildren, and other family members who mourn their great loss. It is our prayer the Lord will bring comfort to each of the grieving family for we know He is the only one who can adequately comfort.
We resolve to send a copy of this resolution to the family, spread a copy on the church record, and send a copy to The Banner of Love for publication.

Sister Emma joined the First Primitive Baptist Church of Dallas in 1961, and she attended regularly until the past several years when she was unable to attend due to her health. She is survived by a nephew, Robert Eagle, and his wife, Catherine, and a great niece, Mrs. Susan Chastain, and her husband and son.
We, at the First Church and her family all miss her very much. The funeral service was conducted by Elder Hylton Crain of the First Primitive Baptist Church, at the Restland Memorial Park in Dallas, Texas.

We, here at La Pryor are going to miss her, not only when we meet to worship, as her place will be vacant, but in our every day walks.
She was like a sister to me and when I needed my mother, she was always there for me. And, as someone said to me, "she was your right arm" and she truly was. How I do miss her, but she is no longer suffering with pain as she did for a long time with osteoporosis of the bone.
May God be with the family she has left behind. Please pray for them.
Submitted in love,
Darlene Russell
Sister Alpha Littlefield, 95, was born Feb. 7, 1905 in Lampasas County, Texas to Jack and Minnie [Upton] Chambers. She passed away Dec. 28, 2000 in Austin, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond Hullum; a son, R. C. Hullum, Jr.; two grandsons; four brothers and four sisters.
Her survivors are a son, Thomas Hullum and wife, Berniece of Burnet, TX five grandchildren; seven great-grand-children; a brother, T. J. Chambers of Lampasas, and many friends and relatives.
Sister Alpha was married to Raymond Hullum for many years. They owned and operated Hullum's Grocery Store and Shop in Burnet.
Years later, she married Percy Littlefield, a rancher in the Harmon community. They had a few short years together, when his health deteriorated and he passed away. Brother Littlefield will be remembered by some as a deacon in our church.
Funeral services were held Dec. 31, 2000 in Edgar Funeral Chapel in Burnet, TX with Tim Denton and Elder Hugh Montgonery officiating. Sister Alpha's granddaughters sang several beautiful songs. She was laid to rest beside her husband in Burnet City Cemetery.
Sister Alpha was a longtime member of Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church at Izora, TX, where Elder Hugh Montgomery is pastor. The love she had for her church and strong Primitive Baptist beliefs, made her long life in this world rewarding. I've heard her say many times how thankful she was to have had the privilege of growing up in the truth and grace of the Primitive Baptist people.
Sister Alpha was so inspirational and wise. She could lift your spirits by pointing out the marvelous works of the Lord. She loved nature and enjoyed going for rides "to view the beauty" as she would say of the glorious landscapes of God.
She enjoyed being with people, young ones as well as old. Much of her time was spent in helping others with deeds of kindness and words of encouragement. She used to read daily from the Bible to her friend in the nursing home.
Our church has lost many of our dear members in death, and now Sister Alpha has gone to be with them and others. Rest in peace, Sister Alpha. You were so deserving of that wonderful rest in the glorious light of our Lord. May your family and those of us who remain here, find comfort in knowing you are happy with the Lord of Glory in that perfect place called heaven.
