SISTER DOROTHY DOLETA BOYCE

Sister Boyce, better known to all the church members at the Tulia Church as "Aunt Doe", passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2000 in Plainview, Texas.

Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ has called from our midst a true and faithful servant. Sister Boyce [Aunt Doe} loved the true doctrine of Salvation by Grace, and she loved to sing the songs of Zion to the praise, honor and glory of her Lord. Aunt Doe had a favorite song that she loved to sing, "Precious Memories."

Funeral services were held at First Baptist Church in Silverton, TX at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 2, 2000 with Randy Mullin, pastor of First Baptist Church in Silverton and Elder Francis Scott, pastor of the Primitive Baptist Church, Tulia, Tx officiating. Burial was in the Silverton Cemetery by Myers-Long Funeral Home directors.

Sister Boyce was born July 17, 1906 in Coryell County, TX

She moved to Briscoe County with her family in 1908. She attended school at Francis and Rock Creek.

She married George Harold Boyce in 1921 at Silverton. Brother Boyce served as deacon in the Tulia church for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1979 and one daughter, Lilly Leona Boyce in 1931. Aunt Doe lived in Silverton until 1999, when she moved to Plainview Nursing home.

We know that Aunt Doe's spirit has returned to God, who gave it, and that her body was laid to rest in he narrow limits of the tomb to await the morning of the Resurrection, for the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God; and the dead in Christ shall rise first.

O Death, where is thy sting? O Grave where is thy victory? But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory, through our Lord Jesus Christ. Our prayer is that this may be a comfort to the family in the days and weeks ahead. May the God of Heaven and Earth send the Holy Comforter to this family.

Survivors include three sons; Alvie Boyce of Crestone, CO; Harvey Carrol Boyce of Lubbock, and Harold Wayne Boyce of El Paso, TX.; Two daughters, Lottie Garrison of Silverton, and Joy Bornschein of Anchorage, Alaska; 16 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 20 great-great-grandchildren and three great-great-great-grandchildren.
