Brother Russel Lundberg Brother Bryant Minor Sister Opal Mace Brother Joel Jones Sister Audrey McClure Sister Annie Russell
The members of the Valley Spring Primitive Baptist Church bow in humble submission to the will of our Heavenly Father, who on January 2, 2000 called one of our precious brothers, Russell Lundberg, to his heavenly home. Services were conducted by his pastor, Brother Larry Hausenfluke, at the Howell Duran Funeral Home in San Saba, Texas, January 4, 2000 with internment in the San Saba City Cemetery.
Brother Russell was born May 7, 1917 in Manistee, Michigan, the son of Emil and Zae Sears Lundberg. In the year of 1936 Brother Russell came to Texas panhandle to try his hand at "cowboying". There, he met and married Helen Porter in Plainview, Texas. They returned to Michigan to farm and raise their two sons. In 1958 the Lundbergs moved to Midland, Texas, so Sister Helen could complete a teacher's degree and they resided there until 1975, when they retired and moved to a beautiful river place in San Saba, Texas. Brother Russell was a plumber, farmer and rancher.
Brother Russell attended the Valley Spring Primitive Baptist Church faithfully with his wife, Helen, from the time she joined our membership in 1975. He was a quiet man with a gentle manner and a hard worker wherever things needed to be done for the physical well being of the church building or the grounds. He was always ready to help and do his share of the work. On June 24, 1990 Brother Russell asked for a home in the church at Valley Spring and was baptized that day by Elder Carl Watson.
He is survived by his wife, Helen, of San Saba, two sons, Timothy Russell Lundberg and wife, Gloria of Odessa and Thomas Porter Lundberg and wife, Karen, of Midland; three grandchildren, Russell Eugene Lundberg, Christopher Lundberg and Timothy Lundberg; one great-granddaughter, Ariel Lundberg; one half-brother, Willard Anderson of Muskegon, Michigan and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and two sisters.
Whereas, the Lord in His wisdom, has called from us our dear brother, we acknowledge his blessing us with many years of fellowship and friendship, and resolve to honor his memory with this letter of respect and enter it in our church records, with a copy to his family and one to the Banner of Love for publication. Written at the request of the Church, by Church Clerk, Jimmy Shook and Sister Nancy Shook.

Joel E. Jones, 98, a faithful friend to Springlake Primitive Baptist Church passed away at his home in Earth, Texas on May 27, 2000 He attended the church for many years along with his wife, Sister Ruby Jones, who passed away on June 6, 1988. After her death he attended until the past two years, when his health was failing.
His life demonstrated his love of God. His hope of eternal life changed to reality when he saw his Lord. We all loved him, and miss him so much. After failing health he was unable to be at church. He would tell us he couldn't be there, but he still wanted to know how the church was doing.
He is survived by two sons, James Jones and Jerry Jones; two daughters, Mozelle Hedges and Leola Sprayberry; several grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren.
Brother Jones' service was held in Earth, Texas. His grandson, Elder Ronnie Hedges, and Elder T. J. Pittman were blessed to deliver words of comfort to his loved ones and many friends.
We extend our heartfelt sympathy to all who mourn his passing.
In sorrow,

Sister Audrey was a member of Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church of Oklahoma City, being baptized by Elder J. B. Allen in May of 1932. SISTER ANNIE DEE [BURKHALTER] RUSSELL
Services, in memory of Annie Dee [Burkhalter] Russell, were held in the First Baptist Church in Tipton, Oklahoma, at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday June 20, 2000 . A large congregation assembled: Hymns of praise were "Precious Memories", "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Amazing Grace." Prayer and Scripture was by the gracious pastor of First Baptist Church, Troy Taylor: message to the family and friends was brought by Elder Hylton Crain, Sister Russell's former pastor. Internment was in the Tipton Cemetery.
Annie Dee {Burkhalter] Russell was born Dec. 8, 1917 in Tipton to Franklin and Laura Burkhalter. She was a graduate of Brownfield, Texas High School. She married Houston C. Russell May 23, 1937 in Fredrick, OK. He died Feb. 25, 1985. Sister Annie was a member of The Pilgrim's Rest Primitive Baptist Church in Duncan, OK. She and her husband were baptized in the mid nineteen fifties by Elder Hylton Crain. We [Houston and Hylton] worked together in floor finishing and laminated plastics approximately fifteen years in the Altus, OK area. The business association and fellowship in the Lord was very special.
Sister Russell was a faithful wife, a loving mother, uppermost things centering her life was the care of family, and a devoted Christian; those living in the Tipton area would testify to this truth. She did not attend the Duncan Church after her husband's death because she lived alternately with one of her children and their families. When she attended church it was usually with her daughter's family as her husband is a pastor of a First Baptist Church in Cash, OK.
Mary, her only daughter, writes: Mother liked to cook and entertain family and friends as long as she was able. In the last two years of her life she required constant care, this she bore with patience and faith.
This devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother leaves with the family, the household of faith, and friends a testimony of devotion and virtue.
When the Lord called, my child come home, her soul and Spirit went immediately into heaven and the fulness of the glory it beholds, while her body sleeps until the Lord comes again to raise the dead!
She is survived by these dear ones and their families: Two sons, Ronnie Russell of Tipton and Joe Russell of Fredrick; one daughter, Mrs. Mary Couch of Tipton; nine grand children, and seven great-grand- children; these with a host of friends, and brothers and sisters in Christ, bow in submission to God's Holy Will.
The family extends special thanks for all the kindness received in the time of their mother's passing.
Elder Hylton Crain
