Sister Irma Ledell Pippen, a member of the First Primitive Baptist Church of Dallas for over 50 years, passed from this life on July 8, 1999. She was born on September 11, 1914 to Gilmer, Texas, and was at her home in Dallas at the time of her death. Sister Ledell had been in poor health for the few months of her sojourn here, and had been unable to attend church. Prior to her illness, Sister Pepper was a very devoted member of the Dallas Church, and loved to regularly attend service, where she greatly enjoyed the singing, preaching and fellowship in her steadfast service to her Heavenly Master.
Above, all, Sister Pepper was a caring individual, who always asked about the welfare of those about her. Although, she was retired from Sears Roebuck, where she had worked for many years, she still had many friends from among her co-workers from her days there. We appreciated and loved her for her gentle spirit, and she was a blessing to her family, one ready to comfort others and who never complained of her own situation. She truly loved the Church and her faith was strong and unwavering.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. As her former pastor, Elder Dale Magers, liked to describe her; she was the "salt of the earth," Our and her family's loss is heaven's gain. She is now in the presence of her Creator, the Lord Jesus Christ, enjoying the blessings that the Lord has promised His children. Our prayers are with her family and her many friends, that we may all be reconciled to her death, and we know that now she rests through the grace and mercy of our Lord God, with her Savior Jesus Christ.
Funeral services were conducted by her pastor, Elder Clifford Gowens, and Elder Hylton Crain of the Dallas Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, A.V. Pepper, who died in 1997. Sister Ledell is survived by three sons, Lindley Gayle Pepper, Ronald V. Pepper, and Carl Anthony Pepper. She is also survived by a brother, Sam Chaffie, two sisters, Bonnie Henry and Lou Hunter; two sisters-in-law, Roxie Sanders and Emma Chaffin, three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Sister Ladell was buried in the Laural Land Cemetery in Dallas on July 12, 1999,

In Loving Memory BROTHER VANNIE BROOKMAN
Vannie Brookman was born April 5, 1903 to Cornelius and Narcissus Teague Brookman at Vinson, OK. near Hollis, OK. He passed from this life, May 12, 1999 at the age of 96 years, one month and six days.
Brother Vannie and Opal Curb were married September 9, 1924 at Tea Cross, OK by Elder J.R. McCarty. They were married 74 years and eight months. Brother Brookman is survived by his lovely wife, Opal of the Colonial Manor, one son, Darrell and his wife, Ruth; two grandchildren, Darin Brookman and Judy Messenger, Seth and Katy Brookman, all of Hollis, OK; one brother, Roy Brookman of Little River, TX, several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. We all have very fond memories to cherish. To know Vannie was to love him.
Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church, Hollis, OK, Friday, May 14, 1999 at 2:30 p.m. Officiating were Elders Conway Wood and T.J. Pittman. Interment was in Fairmont Cemetery in Hollis, OK.
Brother Brookman joined the Salt Fork Primitive Baptist Church in Vinson, OK, August 22, 1928 and was baptized Sept. 22, 1928 by Elder J.R. McCarty. The church later moved into Hollis. He served as church clerk for 45 years and eight months. When the Hollis church disbanded, Brother Brookman moved his letter to our church, Lone Pilgrim Primitive Baptist at Wellington, TX. We were so happy to have him in our midst. He was a dedicated and faithful member for 70 years plus.
In the 30's Brother Brookman lived across the river from church. He had to foard the river all time to get to church. When the rains came he couldn't get to church by car. Did he miss church? No! He rode one of the mules and bare back.
Vannie's family, his church and his farm was his life's dream. He farmed in the Gould and Ron communities from an early age until his health began to fail him. At that time he and Opal moved into Hollis. Vannie couldn't stay away from farming altogether, so he continued his lifetime ambition by helping his son, Darrell, with the farming. He loved to grow watermelons to share with neighbors, friends, and relatives. In later years Darrell tended to the watermelons, but they were still Vannie's melons, as he personally delivered them to every one.
Brother Brookman loved the church and truly lived by its beliefs. Although, he grew weaker in body and was therefore unable to attend church the last several months of his life. Vannie never lost his faith. He mentioned to us during the last visit we had with him that he was ready to go home when the Lord was ready for him. He will be greatly missed by the family, the church, and his friends.

We, here at Henrietta Primitive Baptist Church are saddened by the passing of our sister, Lucille, on June 28, 1999, at the age of 85 years, eight months, and six days. Joining the church in her latter years, she was not without the knowledge of the truth, as her father, was a Primitive Baptist minister.
Sister Lucille was blessed in this life with three daughters and two sons, whom I had a privilege of meeting at the parting of this dear sister. I know that she was proud of her children and her children were proud of their mother. She was a wonderful person to know and to be around. She had a great love for the Church and all who were connected to it.
I know she will be missed, not only by her husband, Onial, and family, but by the Church. She was drawn home by the Lord, to be free from pain and sorrow. What more blessings could there by? She is at rest forever more.

The Brownwood Primitive Baptist Church wishes to pay its last respect to our dear friend and brother in Christ, W. C. Koen, who passed away at the Brownwood Regional Medical Center, July 17, 1999 at the age of 91. Burial was in Caradan Cemetery in Mills County, Texas. Brother Koen faithfully attended and supported the church for many years before uniting with the Brownwood Church in 1995. His failing health kept him from attending as he would have liked the last few years.
Brother Koen had a wonderful sense of humor. He was always laughing, cheerful and happy. He really enjoyed the young people and the good fellowship of all his brothers and sisters in Christ.
He married Mary Hardcastle in 1933. She preceded him in death. He is survived by two sons and their wives; William and Elaine of Florida, Raymond and Ginger of Katy, TX; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
We humbly pray that his relatives and many friends will find comfort and solace in the fact that he is resting in eternal peace and that some day we will join him there.
