Matt. 6:20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
The full context of this lesson is found in Verses 19-21....
That is, either be concerned for, and seek after heavenly treasures, the riches of glory, the joys and glories of another world, which infinitely excel every thing that is valuable on earth: or taken away:
That is, put them into the hands of God in heaven: and this is done, by liberally communicating to the poor: by which means men provide themselves bags which wax not old, and a treasure in heaven that faileth not...
Luke 12:33 – Sell that ye have, and give alms: provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth.
1st Tim. 6: 18-19 – They shall never want any good thing here, and they lay up in store for themselves, a good foundation against the time to come. Note: The phrase, Time to come, cannot be Eternal Heaven Immortal Glory because Eternity cannot be measured or referred to as Timely or as A Time, consequently, time to come, means tomorrow, the next day, next week, next month, next year, etc....
Matt. 19:21 - Jesus said unto him, if thou wilt be perfect, go and, sell that thou hath, and give it to the poor, and thou have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.
This is the way to have worldly treasure secured from moth, rust, and thieves: for to lay it up in heaven with God, to give it to him, to his poor, to make use of it for his glory, is to lay it up in a place, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal. Treasures are safer here than in our own hands, and will turn to better account, and more to our own advantage, in this life.
Yes, in this way -- Giving to the Poor [alms - giving] - men come to have treasures in heaven, even the treasure of glory and happiness, now in this present – time, even the earnest and joy of eternal life. Eternal life has laid hold on you, so you, by giving to the poor, from your earthly riches (materially and naturally,) can lay hold on Eternal life - Gospelly and timely...
1st Tim. 6:12- Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. The context of this verse is found by going back to Vs 9, where Paul admonishes them that will be rich (such desire will cause them to fall into temptation, snares, and many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition, Verse 10 - further says Paul, for the love of money is the root of all evil; which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. 1st Tim. 6:11 – But thou, O man of God, flee these things: and follow after righteousness godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.
So now we have the proper context for verse 12 - Refrain from yielding to the desire to be rich, and flee from all snares and temptations: conversely. Follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience and meekness. By fighting the good fight of faith - following such action as described in verses 10 and 11- you can right here in time, lay hold on Eternal Life – embrace it, taste it, and rejoice in the earnest of it...
The word Heaven is often represented by the Jewish writers as a Treasury; and the Treasures which are in it are said to be treasures of life, and treasures of peace, and treasures of blessing...
Monbaz the king stood and gave all his goods to the poor; his relations sent to him, and said, that thy fathers added to that which was theirs, and to that which was their fathers: but thou hast given away that which was thine, and that which was thy father’s: he replied to them all thus: my fathers laid up treasures on earth, but I have laid up treasures in heaven. My Fathers laid up treasures, which do not bring forth fruit; but I have laid up treasures, which bring forth fruit. My fathers gathered in a place, where the hand, i.e. of man rules (where thieves break through and steal.) but I have gathered in a place where the hand of man does not rule. My fathers gathered mammon, or money, but I have gathered souls—Prov. 11:30-31...
Prov. 130- The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise. :31 - Behold, the righteous shall be recompensed in the earth: much more the wicked and the sinner.
Notice in verse 31. The righteous (they’re already righteous before their good works) who are winning souls are recompensed (paid) Timely right here on - this earth, not Eternally in Heaven Immortal Glory...
The phrase “Treasures in Heaven” is further amplified in: Luke 12:33 - Sell all that ye have, and give alms; (giving to the poor) provide yourselves bags which wax not old. A treasure in the heavens that faileth not...
Cross reference this verse with: Matt. 6:1-4 which context concerns the Giving of Alms (giving to the poor) - Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: Otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven. (Notice, it is your Father, which is in heaven). Verse 2 -Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you. They have their reward. (From men only) Verse 3 – But when thou does alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth.
Verse 4 - That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which sooth in secret himself shall reward thee openly. (Timely)
Further notice more harmony concerning this subject in: Luke 12:16-21.
The lesson concerns a rich man, already, who just harvested another bumper crop. He needs bigger barns to store it all. He thought within himself that he would build bigger barns, and then says to himself …thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. The Lord told him he would die that very night then whom do all these things(natural) belong to?
The conclusion from the Lord is - So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.
The conclusion from the Lord is … So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.
Laying up treasures for yourself makes you rich naturally, but laying up treasures in heaven by (giving to the poor) makes you rich toward God - right here in time – Timely Right Now!
Isaiah 3:10 - Say ye to the righteous, that it shall be well with him: for they shall eat the fruit of their doings.
Yea, good or bad, you shall reap (harvest) in the same field you sowed. See Gal. 6:7.
Notice in Isaiah 3:10 - that it is the Righteous that does good sowing – Good Works - and they reap (eat) the fruit thereof - timely, daily - give us this day our daily bread - Matt. 6:11 :33-34...
Finally, I-say, Treasures you lay up in heaven is harvested right here in time, by giving away what you have naturally, and this makes you right before God-Treasures in heaven!
Ecc. 11:1 - Cast thy bread upon the waters; for thou shalt find it after many days.
Notice carefully, that the harvest benefits of giving returns to you timely after many days, not someday in heaven’s pure wor1d.

God can go to the dead person and make him alive. It he did not have that power there would not have been anyone to offer praise to the Lord.
You may think of death in any manner, and God is able to raise that dead person. Adam sinned and died and all of his offerings in nature are dead in sin; in that condition men do not praise God, but by His spirit can quicken then. Eph. 2:1.
“He is able of these stones to raise up children in Abraham.” Now if he is able to make children out of stones, then is He not able to raise the dead?
Says one, that means He can make a child of God out of a Gentile? It may mean that but, does it say he cannot raise the dead. He went to one that bad been dead four days and raised him from the dead, went and joined funeral processions and stopped then and delivered the son that was dead to his mother; sent His Apostles to the home of one that was mourning the death of a daughter and raised her up.
We could give many, many witnesses but we all believe that He is able to, and has, and will raise the dead, so this is the hope we have of meeting our loved ones in that eternal home.

All this was possible because of the vast realm of truth that is to be found in nature that has nothing to do with human edict, or customs. Those truths, in nature, are found to be constant from culture to culture, and from age to age. These unchangeable truths are not so because some men decreed that they be so, nor because men have become accustomed to so regarding them; they remain constant no matter what men might think or do. (Men can learn from them, and improve their lives.)
This opposition of nature and convention does cause some hard questions; questions that have been, and remains to be disturbing to mankind. That is, with respect to those things that are true by convention, many of them are also true by nature. This would seem to imply that there are then natural truths of morality. So we find that those who are convinced that there is a natural morality believing that there is a natural justice that goes beyond that which is embodied in existing practices of institutions. As Plato, they were convinced that without a natural arbitrary: therefore it could have been made differently; depending on mans desires; as arbitrated by conventions.
Such views are not consistent with our knowledge of mankind’s basic nature therefore these opposing views of ethics and morality have been, and remain to be a source of debates: it is through these debates, between philosophers and theologians, that there has been an enormous amount of ethical philosophy infiltrated into theology, these ethics, in religion, has over shadowed the fact that morals must come through a learning process.
Ancient religion of the Hebrews was based on the principle of God appointed men teaching the laws of God; and in the keeping of these laws they would live a good life Such a religion was in keeping with those things that were also truths in nature. Both, nature and God teaches us that man, in his nature will not seek good; but is evil from his youth upward. As previously stated, mankind, in nature, is evil (destructive), having no moral concepts, nor a belief in such; being motivated by desire of self-gratification. And no law will change this nature; it will only govern it.
A NEW NATURE
Man’s nature comes from that which he is born of; his parents. Therefore if his nature is to be changed it stands to reason that it must come by changing his birth which by our nature is impossible. As it is written, For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not. Man is his nature will inevitably break the law in his efforts of self-gratification. Yet we find many who believe in good, and eschew evil; which is against their very nature. Why?
In the book of John it speaks of such saying, which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. But it tells of Christ teaching that a man must be born again, and that birth must be of the spirit. Saying that which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the spirit is spirit; explaining that everyone that is born of the Spirit was born liken unto the wind; they can hear the sound thereof, but cannot tell where it came from nor where it goes. (The Spirit that is spoken of by Jesus is the Spirit of God; thus being born of God.) and it is written of them that they have one Father, even God. Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible. Thus we are told, if we know that God is righteous, we also know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of Him. Also teaching us that every one that loves his brother is born of God, and knows God; for love is of God. And whosoever is born of God overcometh the world; and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. And, For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. Thus it is by the work of God that mans’ nature is changed from evil to good, and only those changed will follow after that which is good without natural laws to restrict.
Therefore -it is still necessary that mankind continue to govern themselves by written laws, and judgments. And in this is also a great danger if those of the new birth are not involved in the making of these laws. That which they were ordained unto should be the base of our laws.

[2 Peter 2]
This portion of scripture along with that found in Jude, which is much the same, have long been sources for meditation and study for me. I have enjoyed the study immensely and would like to share some of my thoughts with you. This epistle was written about 66 AD.
The Apostle Peter in the first chapter of First Peter charges the church to press forward in the Christian race. Now in the second chapter he warns that it should be expected that there would be false teachers come among them, as there was false prophets in Old Testament times. They would introduce destructive errors, leading many astray, and they would certainly be punished.
These false teachers could be found out by the doctrines they introduced, damnable heresies that denied the Lord that many followers in their pernicious ways; attempting to seduce others from the faith and to induce them to become followers of themselves, to make merchandise of them for their own selfish gain. There were various groups of persons in primitive times coming under the general terms of gnostic, to whom this description would apply and it is probable that they had commenced the seeding of their doctrines in the times of the apostles.
Verse 1: But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them and bring swift destruction.
In all the ages of the church, and under all dispensations, when God sends true prophets, the devil sends some to seduce and deceive, false prophets in Old Testament times and false teachers in the New Testament. These are not called Prophets but teachers, for as prophecy was more peculiar to the former dispensation, so is teaching to the present.
The thing which these false teachers would attempt would be divisions in the church, based on erroneous doctrines specified here, that would deny the Lord that bought them. It cannot be supposed that while they professed to be Christians they would openly deny Him, but rather, with a long train of human, not spiritual, reasoning pursue that which may secretly tend to it.
Some of these damnable heresies were errors in the fundamental doctrines of the Gospel, such as relate to the trinity of the Godhead, and to the person of Christ: to His Proper deity, distinct personality, eternal sonship, and humanity; to His office as mediator, rejecting Him as the true Messiah, and as the only Saviour of sinners, denying His sacrifice and satisfaction, and the imputation of his righteousness, denying the Holy Spirit, His Deity, Personality, and divine influences and operations.
It follows that such who teach these damnable heresies and deny the great and vital doctrines shall be cast out of the Kingdom of heaven (Church) in shame to find a place with others of their kind and to be cut off from the peace, happiness, and prosperity of soul peculiar in the Church of God. Many have pursued this wrong course and many have been ruined in their worldly prospects, their health; and their lives by holding these false teachings and practices. Please understand we are not suggesting that one of God’s children ever lost his eternal home, but many have lost the joy of their salvation by following after and embracing these doctrines of men that deny the very Lord that bought them.
Verse 2: And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. Many have followed the likes of Simon Magus (Acts chapter 8), the Nicolaitans (Revelation Chapter 2), and others who make a gain of those whom they make their proselytes, serving themselves and making some advantage of them. For all is through covetousness with a desire and design to get more wealth and commendation by increasing the number of their followers. Pernicious that which will destroy or ruin; causing great harm or damage: fatal, deadly. The word defined explains the consequences of following such teachers.
The faithful ministers of God, who preach the truth, desire the profit and advantage of the Lord’s people that they might be saved from the dinning tales and devices of satan.
Verse 3: And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a longtime lingerth not, and their damnation slumberth not. The religious principal is the strongest that is implanted in the soul, and men who are unscrupulous or too lazy to labor for an honest living often turn public teachers of religion and adopt the kind of doctrines that will be likely to give them the greatest power over the purses of others.
True gospel teaching requires us to devote all that we have, not just our substance, but our whole person, body, soul, spirit and substance. See Luke 12: 22-34.
These covetous teachers (covetousness is idolatry, see Colossians 3:5) shall not escape judgment, although it may seem to sleep or linger for a long time, the Righteous Judge slumberth not and His judgments are sure.
The Lord willing, we will continue with our thoughts concerning the certain Punishment of False Teachers in other articles to follow.
May God bless us all,

I would like to share the sad news about Elder and Sister Ray Pipkin’s. On Saturday morning, 12-29-90 their house burned down and all was a total loss.
God would have it that they were not home, as they were spending the night with one of their daughters, because of the severe cold temperature. At the time of the fire the temperature was 23 below zero.
They have been living in Cashmere, WA. for several years. Elder Ray Pipkin has one Sunday of each month to preach at Dryden, WA.
Your support of love and prayers are greatly needed; and if anyone has a desire to help otherwise it will be appreciated.

HE WILL SEE US THROUGH
Ps.46 is so very encouraging in thinking of things concerning this age of time.
Our Dear Lord will see us through. May He strengthen you all.
In Dear Hope, Sister Loretta Lilly Akron, Ohio
It is hard for me to go more than a few minutes these days without my mind wandering to the war in the Middle East It is on the front page with top headlines of each morning newspaper, the main news story of every television and radio broadcast, and the first topic of conversation among my co-workers, family and friends.
When I saw the prisoners of war paraded by Iraq on the evening news, it went straight into me like a sharp knife. I thought of the suffering and pain which must be felt by the family of those pilots, knowing they are suffering from physical abuse.
I even find myself concerned about the “material” aspects of the war because it is taking place in historically geographic areas - in the area near - the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers where historians tells us was somewhere located the Garden of Eden (Genesis 2:14). Abraham’s birthplace near Ur, Iraq, and the general valley between the rivers in the former land of Babylon where many of the books of the Old Testament were said to have been written.
I am concerned that we were forced into this position and the resulting spiritual bind that it puts us into. I personally support the basis of the action, but am bothered as to why the country of Iraq and its leader cannot find a peaceful middle ground for discussion of their concerns. I try to control my emotions, but find myself bitter and judgmental toward Iraq leaders.
When I realize what pain apparently has been inflicted by this men, not only on outside people, but against his own family and countrymen, all in the name of his “holy war’ ‘—I do not find much “holy” about it.
It is a good thing that judgment rests in the merciful hands of the Lord, because I know I would have difficulty finding mercy in my own heart. It makes me realize how weak I am, but know I must trust that the Lord will help us through this.
As we know, vengeance rests in the judgment of the Lord, Deut. 32:35; Romans 12:19.
So what can we do about this situation. Are we to simply worry and ponder on the possible things that can go wrong? What good can one person do several thousand miles from the battle? Is there simply no way for us to be involved? To help our leaders and the leaders of the dozens of other countries with whom we are aligned?
Would not it be wonderful if we could only know that our leaders had the wisdom of Solomon in situations like this. But realistically, we know our leaders are, in fact, just men and women like ourselves, capable of judgmental errors and insecurity at facing each monumental worldwide problems.
Perhaps, though, there are things that each of us can do in times of trouble, such as we face in the world today. Maybe you do not have a telephone hotline to the President, or can directly provide a word of encouragement to a friend of family members serving in the armed forces in the Middle East, but you do have a duty, regardless of whether you feel you have actual political or direct influence.
First, to help yourself deal with the mental pain and stress turn to Proverbs 3:5-6: Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and He shall direct thy paths.”
Solomon had great wisdom for making tough decisions. But he was not born with that wisdom, and did not obtain his ability through acts of his own. He was a wise man because he placed his trust in the Lord to give him wisdom that he needed to make just and wise decisions. (1 Kings 3:11-12. Asking God for wisdom and understanding provides us with the relief from the stream and anxiety of war.)
Second, we have the duty to pray—for each other as well as for our servicemen and our leaders.
“I thank my, God always on your behalf.” 1 Cor. 1:4.
“Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers.” Ephesians 1:16.
“We give thanks to God always, for you all, making mention of you in our prayers.” 1 Thess. 1:2.
“I thank my God upon every remembrance of you. Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy.” Phil. 1:3-4
As the song by James D. Vaughan states: “I need the prayers of those I love, while traveling o’re life’s rugged way … and To help me in each trying hour.”
You should pray for your family and friends; you should pray for the servicemen and women, even those you do not personally know; you should pray for our president and leaders. And, you should pray for your enemies. (Matt. 5:44)
“The effectual prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” (James 5:16)

Verse 1-Therefore, denoting prior importance in Chapter 4, which is verse 25, Him (Jesus Christ) being delivered for our offenses, and was raised again for our justification that is, we being rendered just or innocent through Him Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. The faith in Christ’s faithfulness to the Father. The peace is ours. This is God’s riches at Christ’s Expense.
Verse 2--Now our faith comes into view, but notice it is still by Christ that is, faith being a fruit of the Spirit which is the inner man (Gal. 5), that it is the means in which we have access - admission into this graciousness wherein we now stand (to take or be at rest in an upright or firm position), and rejoice in the expectation of the glory of God that will someday be a reality.
Verse 3—And not merely so, but we glory (vaunt) in tribulations—pressure also. Why? Knowing that it works our endurance. Matt. 5:11 says Blessed are ye. What a wonderful thought! Rom. 8:35 tells us that the pressure can’t separate us from the love of God, yea, rather draws us closer to Him. We, in these things, are more than conquerors through Him that loved us and gave Himself for us. Chap. 4:25.
Verse 4—And patience, experience— this could mean that it proves us and also we can understand what our Lord suffered in our room which brings us closer to the Father—and experience, hope or confidence that in turn gives us what we need to get through the next valley.
Verse 5—And hope maketh not ashamed. Why? Because the Love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. The confidence that we get in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. The confidence that we get through it all makes us see what love (John3:1) He had for us that we do not feel ashamed for oneself because we are called the sons of God.
Verse 6—For when we were yet strengthless, in due time (shows He is never too late and that He cannot lie) He died for the irreverent. This shows that man had no part in his salvation because we were ungodly.
Verse 7—For with difficulty for a righteous man will one die: yet doubt for a good man some would even dare to die. We were not even close to either of these identities.
Verse 8—But God commendeth (union; with; together) His love to us, in that while we were yet sinners is (a division or share), Christ died for us. Here we can see the wondrous love of the second man, Adam, and the legal work of adoption.
Verse 9—Much more certainly, being now justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. Now being rendered just or innocent, that is, equitable by His blood, we draw near Him with the full assurance of faith knowing we have the petitions we desire, and that there is no danger of one falling away because notice that it is all through Him, the Channel of the Act.
For if when we were an adversary, we were reconciled (to change mutually)—How? by the death of His Son. (What a debt of love and praise I owe!) Much more being at one with the Father, we can come boldly to the throne of His grace and find help in time of need and be saved from overwhelming fear by His life as one making intercession for us because He liveth; yea, and is a live forever more! The first begotten from the dead! Victory is won! Death is abolished! Now life and immortality are brought to light!
Verse 11—And not merely so, but we also (vaunt) joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the at-one-ment1 that is, restoration to favor. Now we, the sons of God, groan waiting to be clothed with our house (dwelling) which is from heaven.
Verse 12—Wherefore, as by one man am entered into the world, and death by sin, and so death passed (came) upon all men, in whom all have sinned. As by one man, (Adam) death came into the entire family of Adam, not that they die because of his one sin, but that they are conceived in sin and the wages of sin is death. They (all mankind) come from the womb speaking lies. They are brought forth in iniquity. The soul that sinneth shall die which is proof that all have sin dwelling in them.
Verse 13—For until the law, or up until the law, sin was in the world. How do we know? Paul tells us in the next verse. Man died, but sin is not imputed when there is no law. That is, sin is not put to account (or prime word fixed position) when there is no law.
Verse 14—Nevertheless, death ruled from Adam to Moses (from the first man to the law recipient), even over them that had not sinned after form or likeness or similitude of what Adam’s violation, who was a statue or model of Him that was to come, that is, Christ. Meaning that just as Adam represented his family and plunged them into sin, so Christ represented His family and purified and cleansed them.
Verse 15—But not as the offense, so the free gift. Not just like Adam’s sin is the free gift because true, by this one man’s sins man fell, that is, through his offense many be dead (one offense - many - that being all his family-all means any; every; the whole but much more the grace of God and the gift by grace (that great and wonderful free gift) is the forgiveness of the every offense of the entire family of God, a number which no man can number—as many as he stars of heaven and sands upon the seashore. The sins, and. offenses of just one are themselves innumerable, but what grace, but what love, He, the Great Shepherd of the sheep had for His family that grace by one man, Jesus Christ; hath abounded (super-abound, be in excess, super abundant) to many. No wonder the prophet Isaiah could say in Chap. 53:11 He shall see of [the results] the travail of His soul, and shall be satisfied: by His knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for He shall bear their iniquities.’
Matt. 20:28 Even as the son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give His life a ransom for many. Heb. 9:27-28 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment; so Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for Him shall He appear the second time without sin unto salvation.
Verse 16—And not as it was by one that sinned so is the gift; for the judgment was by one to condemnation that being the righteous judgment of God, and it was to judge against. That is, to condemn, by the one man, but the free gifts the rescue, is of many offenses unto justification.
Verse 17—For if by one man’s offense death reigned by one (Adam’s family); much more they which receive abundance of grace (God’s family), and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ. They which receive the surplus of grace shall come out victorious over death and hell to live with the family of God forevermore through and by one man’s work, (Jesus Christ).
Verse 18—Therefore, as by the offense of one (Adam) judgment came upon all men to condemnation—Paul is saying, by one offense, he and all his family fell. Judgment came from God the Righteous Judge to whom none can question His doing. His judgments are unsearchable, and His ways past finding out. Who has known the mind of the Lord? None! Who being His counselor can counsel Him? Absolutely none. His work is perfect for all His ways are judgment: A God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is He. Psalms 50 tells us, Every Beast of the forest is mine, and the cattle upon a thousand hills. I know all the fowls of the mountains: and the wild beasts of the field are mine. If I were hungry, I would not tell thee; for the world is mine, and the fullness thereof. So then, whose courts will you try him in? If you have questions about the state of man, see the judge. Even so, (Just like the representative head Adam for his family) by the righteousness of one, Christ, who is made unto us wisdom, righteousness, sanctification and redemption. Why redemption? Because He chose His family out of Adam’s family who fell. The free gift came upon all men unto justification of life. All men here are all who are made righteous, that is, His elect family. Notice it is a gift and not an offering it is free and not by works of righteousness which we have done, because as Paul states in Romans chapter 3, there is none righteous, none that doeth good, none that seek after God, no not one!
Verse 19—For as, (just like the one to condemnation) by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so (like the other to righteousness) by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. The many in this text who are made righteous are, as God told Abraham, as the stars of the heavens for multitude, and as the sand upon the seashore innumerable, whose sins were as crimson but have been washed whiter than snow.
Verse 20—Moreover, the law entered, that the offense might abound. The law came to show not only the righteous demands of God but that in turn shows the exceeding sinfulness of man (Adam’s family). Paul wrote in Chapter 3 that by the deeds of the law shall no flesh be justified in His (God’s) sight; for by the law is the knowledge of sin. Paul also tells us in Gal. 3 that the law was added because of transgressions. Whose? Adam’s family.
That is, it was as a magnifying glass to show the corruption of mankind. There was no law given that could give life, else righteousness would have been by the law. On close examination of the law one can only say, God be merciful to me, a wretch. In Chapter 7 Paul says that he was a live without the law once, but when the commandment came, sin revived and he died. Then he asked the question, Is the law sin? Answer: God Forbid. Then He asked The law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good. Was then that which was good made death unto me? Again, God forbid. But sin, that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful. For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin. He goes on to say, For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound thanks be unto the “Most High God of glory through His everlasting love that His grace was not just barely enough to cover or to take away the sins of His people, but the word is superabound. It has been said that it took every drop of His blood to purge us from guilt, but to me, the truth is that it was so precious that it superabounded. He loves His children just that much that He poured it all out.
Verse 21— That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign, through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ, our Lord. We are under the rule of sin while we live in this body, but after this life sin has no more power over us because with the righteousness through Christ, death is abolished. Now we see victory in Him as He came out of the tomb triumphantly. We can view the monster death and smile for he has lost his sting. Now, we can sing because grace rules and the warfare is accomplished. Oh! how we can sing, “Grace ‘Tis a Charming Sound!’

Good meeting reports, Christian experiences, as well as good doctrinal articles all help to make the paper a source of good reading.
A year untried before me lies,
What it shall bring of strange surprise,
Or joy or peace I cannot tell,
But God my Father, knoweth well.
I make it no concern of mine,
But leave it all with Love Divine.
No ill can come, but He can cure,
His Word doeth all of good insure;
He’ll see me through the journeys length,
For daily need give daily strength
This thus I fortify my heart,
And thus do fear and dread depart.
The sun may shed no light by day,
Nor stars by night illume my way,
My soul shall still know no afright,
Since God is all my life and light,
Though all the earthly lamps grow dim,
He walks in light who walks with Him.

Young and Old Requested to Write
We find these words in Zech. 6:12-13 And speak unto him, saying, Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, Behold the man whose name is The BRANCH; and he shall grow up out of his place, and he shall build the temple of the LORD: Even he shall build the temple of the LORD; and he shall bear the glory, and shall sit and rule upon his throne; and he shall be a priest upon his throne: and the counsel of peace shall be between them both. Surely God and Jesus Christ, for they are one, and they agree in one inclusive of the Holy Ghost. That we can find His place, see He has a name above every name, Phil 2:9. Look at Isa. 7:14 Behold a virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call his name Immanuel. Now see Mat. 1:23, get 19,25, next we want Isa. 9:6,7, For unto us a child is born unto us a Son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulders: And His name shall be called wonderful counselor, The mighty God, the everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace, and of His government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon His kingdom to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even forever.
The zeal of the Lord will perform this. Christ being the child and Son. We see him head to all things in the church, Eph. 1:22. Let us now see the growth of the child. Herod now hearing of the child says, where is He that is born of the Jew? Mat. 2:2. Not being told but mocked of the wise men, Herod called for all the children under two years old, but look at V. 13, we see Jesus spared for He was to be taken by Joseph and his mother to Egypt. We have a prophecy for out of Egypt must come the deliverer or out of Egypt have I called my Son, Hosea 11:1. May I step back a bit to Simeon who had had it revealed by the Holy Ghost that he would not see death, before he had seen the Lords Christ, and sure he took the Child Jesus up in his arms crying, now let me depart in peace. For mine eyes have seen thy salvation.
I suggest that this has been said about each child by the Holy Ghost you will see the Lord Christ before they die. We see in this a growing up to His place, again step back to the interview of Elizabeth and Mary, John leaping for joy in the womb of Elizabeth and Mary when it was told to her seen sure she was to bear the Savior, cried out, My soul doth magnify the Lord, 47 and my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Savior. Got Luke 1:46-47,48. We see further a growing up into his place as He was with the doctors asking and answering their questions. He was being about His Father’s, “God’s” business..
Let us rejoice that we have such a one, He learning and growing up in his place, as king of kings, and Lord of Lords.
We see Jesus next turning water to wine at the wedding feast. John2. If not in order, let us look at John saying, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. In John 2, also see how He drove out the money changers, because they made the House of God a house of merchandise. And in John 3, we get His lesson of the new birth 1,18. We see Him healing and doing many miracles as we pass through John, Josephus, say of Jesus there is a man in Jerusalem, if it is right to call Him a man that does thousands of wonderful things. John tell us if all the things that Jesus says and does the world would not contain it.
In Acts 4:12, we see Him spoken of in His place that there was no name under heaven given whereby we must be saved. His name gives above all names king of the Jews or “my people”, both in the old and new. We hear in John 18:37 when Pilate asked, Art thou a king, Jesus said, Thou sayest I am a king. To this end was I born and for this cause came I unto the world, that I shall bear witness unto the truth. Everyone that is of truth heareth my voice. readV.38,40.
Right here if the people had said, free Jesus, crucify Barabbas, the blood of Jesus would not have been shed for our sins. We see one must be loosed at the passover, and we see the man, Jesus shed his blood and the guilty go free, pointing to you and I hope me to go free. Let us next get a profound work that spells so much as we see Jesus growing up in His place, as Jesus, the Savior, King of Kings, head over all things unto the church. John 19:6,12, now get 13:22 vs 19,22, and Pilate wrote a title and put it on the cross Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews. It was written in Hebrews and Greek and Latin. The chief priest said, to Pilate, write not, the king of the Jews, but that He said, I am King of the Jews. Get V.
Pilate answered, what I have written I have written, see here it could not be said, Jesus did not grow up out of His place. He was a child as we see when Simeon took Him up in his arms and said, My eyes have seen thy salvation, just as it was said of the Holy Ghost. Luke. Note again He was born to be King of the Jews and He grew up out of His place as the child Jesus, we read all power was given Him, both in heaven and in earth. We see Him now on the right hand of God, ever forgiving sins of God’s people. Heb. Oh read it all.

ELDER I. W. THORNTON
We, the members of Ebenezer Primitive Baptist Church of Hubbard, TX, bow in humble submission to the Lord’s will in calling our dear Elder I. W. Thornton home to be with Him on July 18, 1990. Elder Thornton was born March 1, 1904, in Limestone County. He was a barber by trade and was well known in the Fairfield area for his knife and saw sharpening shop at his home. He was well thought of in his community.
Elder Thornton was received at this church by letter from the Oglesby church in May of 1951. He was ordained to the ministry on July 21, 1951, and served this church as pastor from April 9, 1955 until September 13, 1975, at which time he asked that he be relieved due to his failing health. He traveled many, many miles in serving other churches as pastor - Anson in West Texas, Dublin, Texas, Queen City, Texas and Little Flock in Temple, Texas. He loved the church and attended as long as his health permitted. He was a dear friend to all of us for many years visiting, those who needed him, not thinking of the miles that separated them. To say that we miss Elder Thornton is certainly an understatement, but we realize that our lose is his eternal gain.
His funeral service was held at First Baptist Church, Fairfield, Tx., on July 21, 1990, with Elders Harold Horn, James Henthorn, and Paul McClain officiating. He was laid to rest in Wortham Cemetery beside his beloved wife, Myrnice, who preceded him in death on May 9, 1989. We extend our sympathy to the family that survive him - his two lovely daughters, Shirley. Calhoun of Pasadena, TX, and Gynne Massey of Fairfield, TX, and a son, Don Thornton, of Fairfield, Tx, and their families. He is also survived by a brother, Lodes Thornton of Houston, TX and a sister, Beatrice Keeling of Wortham, TX.
RESOLVED, that a copy of this resolution be placed on the church record and a copy be sent to The Banner of Love for publication.

On Dec. 2, 1990, our heavenly Father in his tender love and mercy, saw fit to call from our midst, our beloved sister in Christ, Neva Margaret Snow. She was born July 28, 1924 at Crescent, OK. She bad lived in Logan County most of her life. She was the daughter of Lee and Maggie Chambers, who preceded her in death. She united with Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church on Feb. 28, 1937 when she was 13 years old.
She was a precious sister, neighbor and friend to all who knew her. She loved the Lord and the church and was a faithful member. She bore her suffering with much patience. She was united in marriage to Cecil H. Snow on July 1, 1945 at her family home near Crescent. Her family meant very much to her.

Brother W. Russell Grant was born in Macon, Georgia on Oct. 9, 1903 to Sarah (Stevens) and Willis Elias Grant.
He joined Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church in Macon in Oct. 1922. Brother Grant was received by letter at Shiloh on June 27, 1987, after having attended with us for several years, while faithfully attending at Bethlehem, also. He was ordained a deacon, Nov. 30,1947.
After many months of serious illness, Brother Grant died on Oct. 9, 1990 on his 87th birthday. Graveside services were conducted by Elders Franklin - Bryant and Norman Randall at Macon Memorial Park. Brother Grant loved to attend all the churches in the middle Georgia area and was loved and respected by their congregations. He was often called on to open services and he always had a scripture on his mind and a worthwhile short message. He was gifted in praying publicly, and was an enthusiastic leader of singing. The old songs were dear to his heart. As long as his health permitted he went to church.
All his brothers and sisters in the church loved him, and he will be greatly missed. We will remember him best for his enthusiasm and faithfulness to the church. We are comforted to know he is even now basking in the sunlight of God’s heaven, where we hope to be some sweet day.

A WONDERFUL PAPER
Renewing the paper, use the extra for your use. May God bless each one in your work of putting out a wonderful paper.
Jenetta Merriott
The Baptist Trumpet, which had its beginning in 1891 at Tioga, TX under the direction of Elder J.G. Webb, pub1ished its last paper in 1982. I believe that it served a good purpose and always purposed to print the truth as it is in Christ Jesus. During the late 1940’s a Non Profit Corporation was set up to take care of the future management.
The Board of Trustees of the corporation is now In the process of dissolving the corporation. The Primitive Baptist Hymnal was also published by his corporation and this work will not be continued.
Our heart goes out to those who are still doing the ministry of publishing periodicals, song books, etc. at this present time. Oh! how we should pray for those who labor in this field. Brethren, we should help them monetarily and with good sound articles on the teachings and principles taught by our Lord. Surely much of these writings should show forth the exhortation from Paul to Timothy to “do the work of an evangelist.” Have we not been selfish?
The last remaining items to be closed out are about 1200 copies of a book “The Gospel of the Grace of God” by Elder Len Dalton, my father. This book has a retain value of about $5.00 and consists of the following:
A- Story of his life and ministry as a preacher and public school teacher.
B - Fourteen select sermons preached to the Lord’s people in central Texas during the years from about 1960 to 1970.
C - Two songs composed by the author.
D - Page 36-My Prayer for God’s Church tomorrow and exhortation to His people.
E- 206 pages paperback. List of additional books.
During the later of his life on an occasion when he looked back and thought to himself that his life had surely been a dismal failure, he played some of the reel tapes of sermons printed in this book and began to rejoice and feed on them once again. The Lord blessed him in these vital and fundamental teachings. But, did they take heed? Do we learn from the past? No, these are not sermons to just read and rejoice in, they are principles that should be imbedded in our very lives. He paid for the printing and gave all the books to The Trumpet.
These books are being offered to any Church of the Lord Jesus Christ or ministers of the gospel in lots of 25 pieces at a net price of $2.00 each. You may send your check for $50.00 made out to the Harmony Hill, a Primitive Baptist Foundation Publication, 1302 Viewridge, San Antonio, TX 78213, and the package will be sent to you prepaid. The profits can be used to help the Church you serve or help pay your way in going to serve the Lord’s people. May he Lord bless these messages to our understanding.
Murl Dalton, Trustee
God moves in a mysterious way, His wonders to perform; deep in unfathomable mines of never failing skill, He treasures up His bright designs, and works His sovereign will.
We witnessed His mysterious way this weekend as we met on Saturday, Dec. 29th to worship at the New Hope Primitive Baptist Church in Fredericksburg, Texas.
The weatherman had predicted severe weather for the weekend, wet and icy; but a few gathered for services praying that God would be in our midst. We were thankful for the elders who came bringing special anointed messages to His praise!
We began services early, and wish more had been present to hear the following sermons: Elder David Montgomery opened the services with his message, I was glad when they said unto me, let us go into the house of the Lord. He brought such a beautiful message that we were all happy that we had come to the house of God to worship the Great I am. His brother, Elder Mike Montgomery followed with his subject, And besides this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge, etc. ‘What a wonderful admonition to us - yet in praise to God.
Since each minister had planned to leave following the afternoon service, our pastor, Elder J. P. Dale, asked Elder B.J. Walden to follow the two brothers. Elder Walden’s message was And they sat ‘and watched Him- the life and death of Christ. He asked the congregation this question, What would have been our thoughts had you been there when our Lord was crucified? My first thought was what Great love that He willingly suffered the death on the cross for such undeserving creatures as I felt to be. Do we not desire to serve such a One who suffered so in our room instead? Bless His Holy Name!
During lunch the Elders enjoyed conversing with one another. It was so good to witness them enjoying discussing the scriptures.
In the afternoon services we were blessed to hear two more wonderful sermons. Elder W.R. Daniels went first and his message was a question, Is It well with you? While he was preaching each of us were asking ourselves, is it well with us?
How glorious it is when one can say it is well no matter what may come, and yet be able to praise His Name. Elder Donnie Halbgewach went forward next with his subject, Going on to perfection. How very beautiful was his delivery in teaching us how to live close to Him thereby obtaining a more perfect Christian life.
Our Saturday night and Sunday morning services were called off due to reports of severe icy weather. This saddened our hearts, but we were submissive to His will.
I spent Sunday morning reading and listening to one of the late Elder S.N. Redford’s sermons on tape. His subject was, We are laborers together with God. I rejoiced again hearing the message of an Elder under whose preaching I was reared.
Sunday afternoon when the weather cleared, my husband, J.P. and I went to Kerrville to visit one of his members, Sister Bertha Teague, who was in the hospital. We were glad to find she had improved, and would soon be going home. While we were having prayer with her, we kept hearing a woman’s voice behind a curtain. She was saying, I want, I want, so we moved the curtain to talk to her telling her that my husband was Sister Teague’s pastor.
Instantly her face lighted up with the most beautiful spiritual expression. She told us that her name was Moon, and that her husband’s people were Primitive Baptists, that they went a way back and were from Alabama. She then spoke of knowing Elder S.N. Redford and that she had taught school with one of his daughters, Will Etta, (Mrs. Amon Short.) I told her that I had listened to one of Elder Redford’s sermons on tape this morning. As the song goes - God Works in a Mysterious way, His wonders to perform. He plants His footsteps on the sea, and rides upon the storm.
After having prayer with Mrs. Moon, and biding her and Sister Teague good-bye, we left for home feeling this day was not wasted. We had felt His Spirit throughout the day. I remembered the text, Be not forgetful to entertain strangers; for thereby some have entertained angels unaware.
We pray He will be praised and glorified in our lives throughout the coming New Year. May His wonders never cease.
In appreciation of a blessed weekend,
Lola, Mrs. J.P. Dale, Jr.
On November 14, 199O the Lord called Elder Duane McCarty from this earthly life, to an eternal with Him, which is beyond comprehension. A place where hope becomes reality, a place where the ways and the purpose of our God can finally be understood.
Elder McCarty lost his eyesight many years ago and also had to use a hearing aid. He did not allow these things to effect his ministry, nor anything else that he chose to do.
When cancer invaded his body, he responded to that affliction with the determination that was common to his character and his calling.
He stood and delivered the message as long as his strength would permit,; then he sat in a chair and, and finally a wheel chair, to continue to teach us the glories of God.
In one of his last sermons, he exhorted us to endure the afflictions of life and to trust the Lord and be submissive to His will.
He attended our last communion service despite his weakened condition.
Elder Raymond Kirkpatrick and I were privileged to wash his feet that last time.
Elder Duane McCarty did fight a good fight and surely was an inspiration to all who knew him.

Our church in Cross Plains, TX was saddened at the passing of on dear brother and Elder V.M. “Pete” Bleeker of Rising Star. He died at his home on July 26, 1990, after a lengthy illness.

6-23-34 - 11-16-90
The Lord called Wanda home, 11-16-90. We had buried our youngest son, just three months earlier. Robert was killed in an accident. We wonder why these things have to happen to us, but we don’t understand God’s plans. I am just thankful for the years I had with her, she was a very good, God fearing wife. She taught me how to love and forgive.
I know that, all the things I did for her while she was alive, all the times I have comforted her, that it is not near the sacrifice Jesus did for her when He went to the cross, died an awful death, and the home I have here, is nothing to compare with the mansions He made for her and He knew her a long time before I did; she was one of His children. He just let me have her awhile, then He called her home, and I know by God’s grace she is waiting for me in that mansion, and that’s a comforting feeling to know. In a little while I will join all my loved ones in heaven.
It’s an awful loss to lose your mate and I ask you to pray for me that God continues to give me the strength and faith carry on.
Written from the depths of my heart.

ENJOYS THE BANNER
Thanks and God bless you. I do so enjoy The Banner.
In Christian Love, Sister Esther Allard Bolivar, MO.
It is with sad hearts that Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church records the passing from this life of Sister Jewel Martin. She was born July 17, 1916 in Hickory, OK., and departed this life on Oct. 30, 1990, making her stay here on earth seventy-four years, two months, and thirteen days. She united in marriage on Dec. 23, 1931, to the late Brother W.E. “Jack” Martin. Sister Jewel was a faithful member as long as health permitted until her passing.
We are comforted just in knowing that Sister Jewel shared with us the very hope of heaven and immortal glory for all the Lord’s people, which binds our hearts in Christian love, as we dwell for just a little while here below.
The funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m., Nov. 1, 1990, conducted by her pastor, Elder J.E. Newman. Her body was laid to rest in the Tishomingo City Cemetery to await the resurrection.
She is survived by two daughters: Geneva Carr of Tishomingo, OK, and JoLeta Kosechata of Burkburnett, TX; ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; one brother, J.W. Lovett of Okla. City, and one sister, May Corley of Tecumseh, OK, and a host of other friends and relatives.
We, a few of her brothers and sisters in Christ, continue to pray that the void might be filled among her family and friends. We thank God for our hope of being reunited with Sister Jewel Martin and all of God’s children some sweet day in the land which knows no end.
Sister Jewel was a meek and quiet spirited person, which, in the sight of God, is of great price. Her sweet smile and humbleness will long be remembered.
This was written by request of Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church of Sulphur, Ok., while seated in conference on Nov. 18, 1990. A copy to be sent to the family, a copy to the Primitive Baptist papers for publication, and one placed in our church records.
After twenty-five years in the same house, my family and I recently moved to another neighborhood, about ten miles from our old house. The experience reminded me of a significant spiritual truth. “Here we have no continuing city, but we seek one to come.” I now think part of what will make heaven so special is that we will never have to move, not need to!

It is with much sorrow I attempt to write you about the death of my nephew’s wife, Jomeda Richards, who passed away on Dec. 11, l99O at her home in Norman, OK. Jo had been a member of our family for 45 years and we all loved her dearly.
Jomeda Babb was born March 26, 1931 al Hollis, Ok., to Walter and Pearl Babb. She married Henry Richards, June 19, 1945 in Wellington, Tx. To this union two daughters were born, Lynetta Jean and Deana: Darlene, and one son, Walter Lee. All three survive their mother.
Henry and Jo lived in Wellington several years, then moved to Indianapolis, IND.; from Indianapolis, they moved to Norman, Ok. in 1962. This has been their home since that time. They are members of the Primitive Baptist Church in Oklahoma City; but since Henry had a burial lot in Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Jo was brought to Wellington for burial.
Her funeral was held at the Primitive Baptist Church in Wellington, Dec. 14th with Elder Jack Hays, pastor, officiating. Interment was in Memorial Gardens Cemetery by Primrose Funeral Home of Norman, OK.
Jo was suffering with cancer, she had a tumor removed from the corner of her eye last February and it proved to be cancer. After a check up it was found she also had cancer in other organs of her body. She only lived about ten months after it was discovered.
Jo was a very devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Besides being a member of the Primitive Baptist Church, she was also a member of the Sweet Adeline Singers. She dearly loved to sing. She and her whole family often attended the singing school at Cone, Texas.
Jo got to attend our Langley Reunion for the last time this past August and she seemed to enjoy every minute of it. We always close our reunion with a song service and prayer on Saturday night, and I in my mind’s eye can still see Jo with her head held high singing alto, to every song. Oh, how we will miss her.
Jomeda is survived by her husband, Henry Richards of Norman, OK., one son, Walter Lee Richards of Okmulgee, OK.~ two daughters, Lynetta Wilds, and Dena Ferrell,. Norman, and one sister Edna Babb, Norman, OK., and five grandchildren.
I would like to say to each of you, we loved her, too, and let us all remember the good times with Jo and hold fast to your precious memories and be glad she does not suffer any more, and she is now singing with the angels around the Throne of God.
Written by one who loved her,

One of the most needful possessions of a follower of the Lord is a proper balance. Most of us realize how necessary it is to maintain proper balance in some areas of life. To lose physical balance simply means we will fall. If we have experienced a disturbed equilibrium we can testify to the fact. We also realize at least to some extent the necessity of a balanced diet in order. to insure proper health, and avoid disease. In each area of life continuous application is required to avoid excess. Doubtless great discomfort and suffering has resulted from failure in this category.
We can hardly over estimate the danger resulting from neglect both physically, and spiritually. Much has been written how for people to live more fall and satisfying lives; the authors drawing extensively from, matter supplied from intellectuals who derive just enough of the truth from scriptures to favor their offering.
The desire of Satan is to create an imbalance in any areas of life, so as to frustrate the work of God. This he cunningly attempts with great craftiness. So often, we the victim, are unaware of what is taking place, or that it is the devils work, until the door of the snare is closed. At this time, let us consider the area of. the Disciple’s profession. We assume you are a disciple (A follower) of the Lord, and that you have made a profession of faith. What is Satan to do now? Will he leave you alone? Absolutely not, our troubles have only just begun. If he is able to cause an imbalance in your Christian life, he is thereby frustrating the work of God, and causing great concern; poor spiritual health, and bringing dishonor upon the entirety.
The first area of attack is the mind. It is the most treasured possession given to man. it separated him from the beasts. Man can think, reason, decide and judge. A little poison in this fertile field is very dangerous, and he knows how and where to apply the same for the most. destructive results. Don’t expect to be pitied; he is both a liar and a murderer. He usually begins by distorting and discrediting the truth as he did with our Mother Eve. He either informs the believer that the doctrine is worthless, or he places so much, emphasis on it, until they become convinced it is everything, and nothing else is necessary. Either position creates an imbalance, as’ other areas are excluded or neglected. We have people like this, and they fail to realize it is the work of Satan. Careful analysis will certainly bear this out. These people believe as long as they apply themselves to the doctrine, that is all that is required. Doctrine is the first item of profit listed in Paul’s expression to Timothy, but it is not the only one. Read 2nd Tim. 3-16,17, the need for understanding the doctrine is crucial, it is the framework of the building, however, more is required than only the frame work.
The mind is the most fertile field for Satan to till, and where he can wreck the greatest havoc. So many little children of’ God have suffered as a result of his work in their minds. The sad. thing is, be can approach and apply in so many ways it would be an impossibility to mention them.
The next area of Satan’s work is the experience. Experience is what is felt, and brought to the attention in various ways. It deals with the emotions. Emotions are important, and, attention should be paid to them. However, if profession becomes emotionalism the believer is out of balance and Satan is the victor. We have some who put too much emphasis on the emotions, to them, religion is only emotion. Only what they are able to feel merits their attention and confidence; if they fail to feel anything then to them there is little else. An imbalance follows.
Another area of the believers’ profession is practice. Practice is what is done. The scriptures speak of this area as works. Not many are guilty of going to the extremes in this area. However, there are some who are of the opinion that religion consists of what is done only, so an imbalance. If Satan can convince, the believer that doctrine is important, that emotions are worthless, and all that really matters is what is done, the victory is his.
We desire spiritual health as well as natural, but are we temperate, and moderate? The Apostle Paul mentioned the fact he was not ignorant of Satan’s devices, however we fear many of us may be. He has many angles of attack and so many are made captives of him at his will until they are in his snares without knowledge of the fact. May the Lord give grace, and understanding that as the prophet said, we may know the way our feet must go.
The soul and the spirit securely abide
Protected within where they dwell
The shelter of refuge in which they reside
Is the knowledge of truth called hardshell
No force in existence can ere penetrate
Nor cunning seducers dispel
As able defenders face down Satan’s hate
Just to worship in truth called hardshell
